Hello! Thanks for stopping by. Allow me to tell you a little bit about myself. Be sure to contact me if you have more questions or would like to know more. I hope to meet you soon.
I am a Counselor/Therapist specializing in individual, couples and family therapy, and practice with Restoration Counseling Services in Joplin, Missouri. I am licensed through the state of Missouri as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and through the National Board for Certified Counselors as a National Certified Counselor (NCC). I have a Master's degree in Community Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy from John Brown University. John Brown University's program meets the national standards for the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT).
My approach to counseling is unique in that it offers a systemic perspective of relationships and individuals, grounded in solid psychotherapy theory and practice. At the same time, I understand people and relationships from a Biblical framework set within a Christian story. My counseling is fueled by a few main psychotherapy models: Narrative, Emotion-Focused, Family Systems, Object Relations, and Existential.
One of God's most astounding promises to us is that He intends to bring good news to the afflicted and poor, to bind up the broken places within our hearts, to bring us into true freedom, to provide for those of us who grieve, and to give back to us the pleasure in living that we have lost. (See Isaiah 61). Ultimately, the Lord God is the one who brings this saving grace into our stories, our struggles, our confusion and pain. He is the Healer, the one who sets us free, and He is gracious enough to let us be a part of that process. My role in counseling is to help you walk that out in your life.
I look forward to getting started with you.
